אָלִיס

אָלִיס(אִילִיס) אֲלִיס m., only in pl. אֲלִיסִים, אֲלִיסִין (אלס, cmp. אלץ in Hebr. Dict. a. רסס, רצץ) ruins, debris. Lev. R. s. 19 (referring to Amos 6:11) הדין רסיסה אית מיניה אל׳ (read רסיסא) of what is demolished by making breaches, there remain ruins, בקיעא לית מיניה אי׳ והדין while of what is demolished by chopping, no ruins remain; Koh. R. to X, 18 (corr. acc.); Cant. R. to IV, 14. Cmp. בִּיזָא and אִלְסִיס.
